BIRO Biewer YORKSHIRE
HISTORY
Originating in Germany born from a litter of black/blue-white-gold Biewer Yorkshire Terriers was a female puppy of chocolate-white-gold a "tricolor" in December of 2004, to the "Art of Highclass" kennel, German breeder, Roberto Krah. Then approximately six weeks later another female puppy born to "From the Lightning Showboy" kennel, German breeder, Birgit Rosner. Both of these breeders came together and gave their chocolate-white-gold tricolored puppies a name, BIRO, by the way of combining the first two initials of Birgit (BI) and the first two initials of Roberto (RO) names. Birgit and Roberto began breeding they're newly found BIRO's and strengthening their breed and thus has been known around the world as the BIRO Biewer Yorkshire. A great support to the breed's establishment was given by Ms Dagmar Przystaw, Chairperson of the Dogs Friends and Fanciers' International Club, Internationaler Biewer Yorkshire Terrier Club e.V (IBC) and German Dog Breeders Society. She was the first to accept the BIRO and rendered assistance in furthering of the breed.
In 2005, the first BIRO female, "Artois of High Class Relight My Chocolate Fire" was the first registered BIRO in the World to the IBC in Germany and shortly thereafter registered with the German Breeders Union. The BIRO mainstreamed to the United States and was first registered with the Biewer Biro International Registry (BBIR), followed by the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA), and by the Biro Biewer Golddust Club, Inc. (BBGC). Though some argue this, the BIRO came from two Biewer Yorkshire Terriers that came from two Yorkshire Terriers and are considered by some to be a separate breed of their own today.
