Who We Are
The American Morkshire Terrier Club® Inc. (AMTC), is the first and only known American Morkshire Terrier Club founded in order to promote, protect, educate, document, propagate, and register the American Morkshire Terrier aka Morkshire in the United States and prides itself on DNA Profiling and breed specific health testing by incorporating a foundation registry, the American Morkshire Terrier Registry® (AMTR) for the verification and registration of purebred American Morkshire Terrier and Ancestry.
As the first official breed club established, the AMTC is responsible for the preservation, protection and welfare of this breed. We are also responsible for the breed Standard a written description of the ideal, American Morkshire Terrier, the education of breed owners and breeders on the nuances of the breed and overseeing the breed's health. As with any evolutionary association of a newly established breed, we will continue to make any necessary changes and adjustments for the benefit of our breed.
The AMTC actively support Canine Health Research and provide Rescue Adoption Assistance for the American Morkshire Terrier through the American Morkshire Rescue Association™️ (AMRA).
The American Morkshire Terrier received Rare Breed acknowledgment in 2019, through the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) followed by the American Dog Federation (ADF) in 2020. As the American Morkshire Terrier Club, Inc. gains other Domestic and International recognitions, this list will grow. The American Morkshire Terrier is recognized by the American Rare Breed Association, American Dog Federation, Internationaler Biewer Yorkshire Terrier Club e.V. and the Genetic Labs: Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Wisdom Health, Animal Genetics, GenSol Diagnostics, and Viaguard.
