Who We Are
The American Morkshire Terrier Club, Inc.® (AMTC), is the first club founded by a small group of American Morkshire Terrier breeders inspired and dedicated by their love for the purpose of forming a national breed club for the American Morkshire Terrier also known as, "Morkshire Terrier," "Malki," "Malkie," & "Morkie.," considered a "rare" breed. One of the goals is to seek AKC recognition for our breed. AMTC represents pet owners, breeders and fanciers alike in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Australia.
As the official breed club established, AMTC is responsible for the preservation, protection and welfare of this breed. We are also responsible for the Breed Standard a written description of the ideal, American Morkshire Terrier, the education of breed owners on the nuances of the breed and overseeing the breed's health. As with any evolutionary association of a newly established breed, we will continue to make any necessary changes and adjustments for the benefit of our breed.
The AMTC was founded and exist for the protection of the American Morkshire Terrier and as such has incorporated the American Morkshire Terrier Registry™️ (AMTR) to verify and register purebred American Morkshire Terrier dogs, puppies, first generations and this breeds' ancestors; the Maltese, the Yorkshire Terrier and the Biewer.
Our goal is to maintain a reliable, accurate data base for the verification of parentage and lineage as well as to establish an alliance of American Morkshire Terrier breeders and pet owners who share the love and commitment of our breed while maintaining quality in health, preservation, protection, temperament and confirmation. AMTC strongly encourages all breeders to adopt ethical breeding and business practices.
The AMTC actively support Canine Health Research and provide Rescue Adoption Assistance for the American Morkshire Terrier through the American Morkshire Rescue Association™️ (AMRA) established in 2019.
